Sue Greenwald has served as Mayor of the City of Davis (2006-2008), and as Councilmember since the year 2000. Sue has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority, serves as Vice Chair of the Board of the Yolo County Transportation District, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Yolo County Water Resources Association and the Lower Putah Creek Coordinating Committee.

Sue has also served on the League of California Cities Revenue and Taxation Policy Committee and Environmental Quality Policy Committee. She has served as council liaison to numerous city commissions and task forces, including the Finance and Budget Commission, Sports and Recreation Commission, Open Space Commission, Senior Commission and Bicycle Commission. Sue has served on the City -County 2 by 2, the DBA 2 by 2, the City School 2x2 and the Mayor-UCD Chancellor 1x1.

Sue lives in one of Davis’ old neighborhoods near campus with her husband, Mike Syvanen, who is a professor of Medical Microbiology at UC Davis. Sue holds a B.A. and an M.A. from UC Berkeley, and has worked as a social science researcher. In her spare time, Sue enjoys walking, bird-watching, reading and an occasional game of Scrabble.
