Letter to the Editor – Thanks to Gerri Adler

Dear Editor,

Last Saturday afternoon from 2 to 3:30pm, Gerri Adler, long-time Davis resident, businesswoman (Lasting Impressions Salon) and town history buff, led a group of 15 through downtown Davis on a walking tour of historic sites. The group ranged in age from about eight to eighty. Ticket proceeds benefited the Hattie Weber Museum of Davis.
Beginning and ending at the Museum in Central Park, Gerri pointed out the sites of the first church built in Davis, the original Davis Lumber, the Bank of Yolo, the Davis Arch and mural, the Foster Freeze (dear to the heart of Bob Dunning), the old Post Office and other Davisville and Davis sites. She also shared anecdotes about various spots, including her experiences growing up in Davis in the late 50’s.
The tour sold out quickly and participants were delighted with what they learned. There is already a waiting list for the next tour, scheduled for June 5 at 2 pm. but a few spaces remain available. Tickets are available from Adler or at the Hattie Weber Museum of Davis.
Our gratitude goes to Gerri for her unstinting gifts of knowledge, time and enthusiasm.
