The first of four quarterly exhibits on the 140th anniversary of Davisville(1868-2008) is available for viewing.
John Lofland, the exhibits’ creator, has given it the title “ Davis’ Gestation Period,” and has used photocopies from three newspapers of the period – the Solano Press, the Woodland Mail and the Yolo County Democrat – to tell the story, Included are large copies of two maps and a drawing of the 1858 Jerome C. Davis farm.
Another temporary exhibit, “Early Davisville/Davis Hotels and Bars,” has recently been completed. A pamphlet presents a brief history of the hotels and bars, which were central to the life in Davisville during the towns early days.
